The Piatkowski Brothers
Downloads

In an effort to get a sampling of our music out to promoters and DJs, the Piatkowski Brothers have recorded a basement demo.  We chose a variety of polka styling to reflect the versatility our band has to offer.  All of these songs were recorded without additional layering of instruments in order to reproduce the sound of our live 4-piece performances.  Special thanks goes out to Mark Trzepacz for his mixing and mastering abilities.

Feel free to listen to and download the following audio files.

Live It Up Polka - We first heard this song back in the early 1970’s, when it was recorded by the Dynatones.  It was originally done by Li’l Wally back in the days of 78 recordings.

Licorice Stick Polka - Happy Louie wrote and recorded this tune back in the early 1960’s.  It is the cut before his infamous Green Grass Polka on the Red Hot Polkas LP.  Frank and Al are featured on a clarinet/accordion duet, while Rob rips out a Louie-like trumpet solo.  Brian captures the essence of the original Happy Louie rhythm so prominent during his early recordings.

Casino Polka – This early 1960’s arrangement from Marion Lush and the Musical Stars was recorded on his very first album.

Pennies Polka – Ray Henry had a style all of his own in the hundreds of instrumentals that he penned.  He was one of the polka fan favorites in our area during the 1960's and 70's (at least that is as far back as we can remember).  Although we recorded this one with considerably less instrumentation than Ray used, we tried to capture the unique bouncy rhythm and smooth melody lines of the original band.

Showtime Polka – The Pala Brothers from Chicago were noted for their vocal originals, however, this is one of their popular instrumentals from 1966.

Yesterday's Royal Radio Jingle - Yesterday's Royal Restaurant in Sylvan Beach, NY is a polka hot-spot in Central NY.  It's nostalgic atmosphere and great food combined with free Sunday polka dances has drawn polka fans from as far away as Pennsylvania.  Brian composed this radio jingle to help promote the events held there.  Check out their schedule
here and "Come dance and dine" on a Sunday afternoon this summer.
